Recognition or enforcement in Türkiye turns on the award, arbitration agreement, authenticated documents and the limited objections under the New York Convention or Turkish private international law.

01 /

Recognition and enforcement

Recognition allows the award's res judicata or evidentiary effect to be relied on; enforcement enables compulsory execution in Türkiye. The requested relief and the country of origin determine the applicable treaty and domestic framework.

02 /

Documents and translations

Prepare authenticated copies of the award and arbitration agreement. Sworn translation, apostille or legalisation, finality and service records should be checked before filing.

03 /

No rehearing on the merits

The court does not retry the underlying dispute. It may examine limited matters such as an invalid agreement, denial of due process, excess of authority, a non-binding award, serious procedural defects, non-arbitrability and public policy.

04 /

Assets and interim protection

Jurisdiction, court fees, possible security and the debtor's assets in Türkiye should be mapped together. Attachment or interim relief has separate conditions; a foreign award does not itself guarantee recovery.
